Egg and Avocado Toast

Egg and Avocado Toast.  It doesn't get any simpler than that.  It's like the perfect little black dress. It can be dressed down and casual for every day events like breakfast at home for one or dressed up with a few accessories for a special occasion like a bridal shower or luncheon for twenty. Basic Version So lets talk options. I decided to use hard boiled eggs because they are an easy do ahead step and they slice beautifully.  Plus, who wants to stand there and make eggs twenty differ... Brown Sugar and Bourbon Glazed Bacon

Part of my Father's Day menu is this mouth watering and super simple Brown Sugar and Bourbon Glazed Bacon.  It contains all the necessary elements (sweet, salty and little back-of-the-mouth tang from the Bourbon).  And it's the perfect accompaniment for any brunch but particularly a Father's Day brunch that features all things bourbon, bacon and beer.  I bet you know a dad out there who will love this amped up version of bacon!  And if you aren't sure of the bourbon part (or if you want to ... Bacon Caprese Cups

Father's Day is coming up and in honor of all the bacon loving dads out there I wanted to create a menu that includes bacon and/or beer in every dish.  I'm starting out with these Bacon Caprese Cups and we'll see where it goes from there!  Caprese Salad is so delicious and simple.  It celebrates the beauty of a perfectly ripe, sun-kissed tomato with just a few simple ingredients like creamy mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, olive oil and salt.  While this version might make a purist cringe ... Challah Bread Egg Toast

This ooey, gooey Challah Bread Egg Toast (loaded with lots of cheese and veggies) is the ultimate breakfast sandwich for any occasion.  It's sumptuous, full of flavor and texture, and makes an impressive presentation on any brunch table.  I love using Challah bread for it's slightly sweet outside and spongy, delicate texture but you could use brioche or even a ciabatta bread if you can't find Challah.  Challah is a Jewish traditional ceremonial bread but it's readily available in most ... Tea Sandwiches

These tea sandwiches are perfect for any crowd and any occasion when it comes to easy entertaining.  There is a vegetarian version and a meat version so you can have all the bases covered and they both have a scrumptious herbed butter on the bread that resembles the classic watercress tea sandwiches served in England.  Perhaps best of all is that this is one of those easy, no-cook recipes but still looks fancy for entertaining.  These tea sandwiches can be part of a brunch, bridal shower, ... Salted Peanut Brittle Peanut Butter Cookies

As a kid Peanut Butter cookies were always a favorite for me.  Maybe because I grew up eating so many peanut butter and honey sandwiches...I don't know.   And still peanut butter is one of those things I've continued to crave even as I've grown well into adulthood.  It brings me back to childhood and is just soooo satisfying.  So when I was thinking of what kind of sweet I'd like to bring along on my Mother's Day Picnic peanut butter cookies immediately came to mind.  But to satisfy the ... Prosciutto Egg Cups – Easter Brunch

These prosciutto egg cups are actually simple to make but they really lend an elegant look to any brunch buffet and is the perfect addition to my Easter Brunch menu.  I am going to serve this along with a walnut pesto to really make them extra special.  I am also serving a Caprese Salad that is my own twist on a traditional Caprese Salad because I add thinly sliced red onions, a pinch of red pepper flakes, and chopped pistachios for crunch. This recipe can be found in my cookbook, The ... Continue Reading

Fresh Fruit Salad with Lemon-Honey Dressing

This fruit salad is especially scrumptious during berry season but I make all year round and is from my cookbook, The Savory Gourmet. I adjust the amount of honey and lemon I use based on the natural sweetness of the fruit available to me.  So a little more honey in the winter and a little less in the summer.  But what I really love about this dish is how colorful it is and how just those little extra touches of the crème fraiche with the tangy sweetness of the dressing really makes this ...
